Blocking system for mobile devices entering to the country lost, stolen and smuggled way contribute to Turkey’s economy to much.
Thanks to MEIR Project was avoided 3 billion dolars of tax losses till today.Firstly Egypt, Sudan and Azerbeijan and lots of country from around the world want to get to the system after achievements.
The system developed in Turkey where blocked smuggled and stolen mobile phones are being modellig to many countries.The countries is combating for he MEIR that blockes the mobile devices which illegally entering to the country. The counties against the lost and smuggled like Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Sudan, Nijeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh are waiting for getting day the device.
Oratech CEO’s Fatih Ayhan Haktanır, improves catching smuggled phones system, said to ZAMAN that ‘Turkey is becoming an important actor around the world and producing informatics by oneself.’ Haktanır point out that at least one country will be created the system on December and they will do selling two countries every year after 2010.Owing to MEIR Project which is operating activities within three years Information and Communicatin Tecnologies Authority was prevented the tax loss approximately $3 billion.
MEIR that is supported by Oratech firm is enrolling all the IMEI numbers used by all the country. Thanks to MEIR between2006 and 2008 years, totally 8 million 93 thousand 889 IMEI number entered to the blacklist.At the same time,besides unregistered devices, provides removel usability of the stolen devices.So getting illegal service ,countries and citizens justices are taken to ensure.Haktanır declared that owing to this system decreased phone theft that increased at previous years. Oratech firm established in 2005 and provided infrastructure support many critical institutions like BTK,TIB,IDB,Police Office.
Blacklist of mobile phones will be held
HAKTANIR emphasized that finding is not hard for the system assesment of development tecnology.He said that ‘ We are using two type of detection copy methods. First, ‘Clone identification’ as communicate so many times on results of reach from the phones with the same IMEI number and at the same time that we called classic method.Secondly we are named as modern method ‘service-based cole detection’.We obsess who plans to clone or smugglingof 3G.
If the system opens other countries, Turkey will be world’s second base place after capital of Irish ,Dublin.GSMA in Dublin that gives the IMEI numbers to all the world phones is a central position of IMEI numbers which are cloned. Owing to MEIR system , center sent a letter appreciation to Turkey and the center will move together with Turkey at war. Turkey will send black list at IMEI numbers to Dublin. GMSA will send world black list to Turkey,too. In this way Turkey will become black list center of the world.
Attention who buys second hand mobile phones
Haktanır specifyed to the citizens that buying second hand mobile phones can be stolen .He said that in case of peaching by real owner, phone can be closed within 2-3 minutes. Smugglers’ methods for drilling the sytstem is cloning –ie copy- that using legally IMEI numbers. Users can learn if their phoe is smuggle or not must avoid without unreceipted and second hand mobile phones.If will get a mobile phone must check information of IMEI status and model from the servise which gives information about last IMEI status and specialities of phone from www.mckstk.gov.tr. wep site. Turkey has 110 million units IMEI numbers now. 15 million of these is in the black list.
